A Congressional Delegation from the United States of America led by Senator Christopher Coons visited Nigeria from August 28 to August 31. Senator Coons is a member of the Appropriations, Foreign Relations, Judiciary, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and Ethics committees.

The delegation held a meeting with member-companies of the American Business Council on Wednesday the 30th of August at the American Guest Quarters, Ikoyi.

The Objective of the delegation was to interface with members of ABC to obtain relevant information on the economic/business environment from the perspectives of US companies operating in the country, assist the delegation in their interactions with the Nigerian Government which will support their legislative work as it relates to trade & aid to Africa.

US Executives of member companies also gave short industrial updates on sectoral basis to ensure that the interactive exercise was productive and successful.

The delegation consists of Senator Christopher Coons (Leader), Senator Gary Peters, Senator Jeff Merkley, Senator Michael Bennett, Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, Rep. Terri Sewell, Rep. Charlie Dent, Rep. Barbara Lee, and Rep. Frederica Wilson.
